The Red Rocket!
Quarterly Enhancement & Protection
Detail – Jaguar XKR Cabriolet
Well, it’s mid October and back to one of our favourite client’s
cars, the ‘Racing Red Rocket‘ Jaguar XKR Cabriolet belonging to one
of our longest standing customers. Although the chap that owns this
beastly motor enjoys regularly cleaning the vehicle himself, we jog
over every 3 months to apply a good few coats of well chosen polishes,
sealants and waxes to keep the car in ‘tip top condition’ and to make
his weekly wash routine even easier and more pleasurable!
As you can see, it was a glorious autumn morning, so wasting no time
we got straight to work. As always, wheels first using our ph neutral
non-acidic wheel cleaner and rejuvenator with the soft natural hair
detailing brush.
The wheels didn’t take much work at all as since the last detail our client has
had them refurbished with our great friends at The Wheel
Specialist in Nottingham.
The job that these guys do is faultless! If ever you need your wheels refurbished
or want the colour changed then contact these guys, they are true perfectionists
and their work is unsurpassed. Visit their website for more info www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk or buzz my old mate Mark on 07769
704 055 for a truly professional experience!
All lower areas of the paintwork have been pre-soaked with a degreasing
agent including under the wheel arches, along the sills and across
the front and rear bumpers. That was all left to do its job and then
rinsed off. On to the washing next, and thought we might give the
new 3M range a test run! Verdict – the aroma it expels is a bit over powering
but does a great job with the help of the sheepskin wash pads! Even
the wheels get the same treatment, but with a different sheepskin pad
from a different bucket! Got to keep the grit away!
A whiz over with the drying towel, and chance for a quick cup of tea
and banter with the client……
1st coat of hand polish being applied.
We use an old school polish that we have used for around 17 years now
and it works great on red cars! In fact on all cars! It’s a bit of
a ‘used car‘polish but has never let me down and still amazes me every
time. No need to leave it to cure and is a great base to add the layers
of protection on. Amazing finish on wheels as well.
Check out that shine!
This Poorboys sealant is 1 of our favourites. Apply it nice and evenly and let
it cure for around an hour and when you unveil the paint beneath it is ever so
crisp! We’ve used loads of different protective solutions over the years and
one of the reasons we don’t stay with one brand throughout our range of services
is because we like to test the products for ourselves, from all the leading suppliers.
Just because it’s the most expensive product on the market, doesn’t necessarily
mean it’s the best. All of the varying products we use we have tested ourselves
instead of just reading the label and looking at the price tag!
Even the exhausts and the wheels get the sealant treatment and the Carnauba
protection later on!
Next we turned our attention to the every so luxurious but still sporty interior.
I must admit that Jaguar has really got it right with these interiors, loads
of ‘James Bond’ style gadgets and quality craftsmanship. All the leather areas
including the seats, door panels and dashboard were cleaned with a specialist
leather cleaner, then hide feed was applied and left to soak in to soften, protect
and replenish vital vitamins and nutrients before being buffed off. The product
we use leaves the interior with that ‘New car’ aroma. Mmmmm!! All the carpeted
areas and mats were shampooed and protected, all the black ebony wood was cleaned
and polished and all the interior windows and mirrors were cleaned and polished
with an anti-fog solution.
All sealant removed and check out behind the wheels and
the red colour coded hubs! We think they look super trick and another excellent job performed by the
ever progressive team at The Wheel Specialist in Nottingham. Is there no end
to these guys’ talents! I’m just glad there not detailers or we would have some
serious(ish) competition!
Just as we were about to start applying the wax, the weather started to look
a bit grim! We swiftly set up the bespoke wet weather system and sealed ourselves
inside, out of the horrendous elements. Rain doesn’t stop
play in the world of Premier! ‘Pete’s ‘Signature ’53 Black Pearl wax is one of my favourites at the
moment, and it’s a belter of a wax! Easy to use, leaves a great finish and the
protection it provides lasts at least 4 months on a vehicle that lives outside. A
real gem! As with the sealant, all the paint gets the Premier treatment, plus
the wheels, exhaust pipes and all the shuts. All the plastics are dressed with
a replenishing rejuvenator and protector which will last as long as the wax.
Exterior windows and mirrors get a coating of water repellent
solution, which again will last as long as all the other protectors.
Unfortunately, when we had finished ‘The Big Man Upstairs’ still had the flood
gates open! Showed the client the finish, but then we had to drive it out of
the wet weather system! Rats! The only bonus was that we could get a few great
shots showing how much protection was on it! Once the client settled up with
us, we were off to the next job, however, we did arrange with the client to come
back a couple of days later when the sun was shining to give the Jag a wash and
dry free of charge just to keep him sweet! That’s just the kind of firm we are!
This protective detail is priced at £195.00, so if you would like the same service
applied to your super trick motor, then just give us a buzz or blip over an email.
